Three years have passed since Nas last released a solo album. Over the course of these three years, his mind state has definitely changed. In 2008, Nas was determined to name his album Nigger. The album was supposed to address the controversy surrounding the “N-word.”
Following his 2008 album, Untitled, Nas partnered with the son of the legendary Bob Marley, Damian Marley, for the Distant Relatives album. Their collaboration effort was met with rave reviews and kept both artists relevant.
Last year, Nas decided to released a sequel to his 2002 album, The Lost Tapes. The Queens rapper first released the album to release some of his unused songs from that period of time. Having recorded so many songs, Nas felt they were too good to go unreleased.
While Nas was ready to release the album, Def Jam did not share his sense of urgency and The Lost Tapes 2 went unreleased. Not focusing on the past, Nas is already recording for his next solo album. For months, he has discussed this album, but he has not given a title. Recently, Nas revealed the title for his album would be Life is Good.
