Throughout his presidency, President Obama has become known for often commenting on pop culture. At times, this has gotten him into trouble, such as when he referred to Kanye West as a “jackass” after the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Supporters of the president, feel he would be better to leave comments to himself.
But, there is only one person who controls what Barack Obama says and that’s the man himself. Riding high after being re-elected, Obama still has a lot of work to do and that will be a challenge. He has kept himself in the media, continuing to campaign for social issues.
During a recent interview with Amazon for the Kindle, President Obama spoke on the differences in the generations. He spoke on how the American Dream has evolved with people looking at the lifestyles of Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, and others. He blames those people for skewing the American Dream.

“We weren’t exposed to the things we didn’t have in the same way that kids these days are,” he began. “There was not that window into the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Kids weren’t monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing, or where Kanye West was going on vacation, and thinking that somehow that was the mark of success.”
