Clearly, not everyone likes President Obama and his movement. But, President Obama was embraced in Black America because he provided an alternative to the other role models. One painful stigma against Black children is that all they can be is an athlete or a hip hop artist if they want to be successful and unfortunately that mind-state comes from within.

Whether or not one likes President Obama or not, he proved anyone can do anything if they set their minds to it. In Black America, leaders hoped this would inspire more children to take an interest in politics, as a whole, not just the presidency. Hip hop has embraced President Obama and celebrated both of his wins.

Michelle Obama recently visited Bowie State University and she gave the commencement speech and touched on many topics. Probably the most-discussed topic was that of the Black community, an age-old debate. In her speech, Michelle Obama says young Black people only care about being rappers.
