In 2013, Yo Gotti scored the biggest hit of his career with “Act Right,” a song dedicated to Mac Dre. A Bay Area legend, Mac Dre died in 2004 after being shot. While Mac Dre is gone, his music forever lives on and most hold him in high regard.
Tributes to Mac Dre became popular within current hip hop circles when Drake shouted him out. Always showing love to the generations before him, Drake definitely shed light on Mac Dre. However, not everyone has the same type of respect.
Most waking up this morning are seeing Mac Dre as one of the trending topics on Twitter. This is due to a younger fan tweeting about Mac Dre and disrespecting his legacy, something that obviously set his real fans off. Now, almost all of Twitter has jumped in to defend Mac Dre and pay homage to his legacy.
