Fifteen years ago, tensions in hip hop reached record highs. Relative newcomers in the rap game, The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur were the biggest rap artists in the game. The two debuted in 1991 and 1994, respectively, and emerged as two of the biggest stars by 1996.
Despite being dissed by a number of West Coast hip hop artists, The Notorious B.I.G. fell in love with Los Angeles. One of the top destinations in the world, B.I.G. loved the city of angels so much, he dedicated a song to Los Angeles. Featured on his Life After Death album, B.I.G. never lived to see the release.
“Goin’ Back to Cali,” The Notorious B.I.G. would last be alive there. Since then, the Los Angeles Police Department has been investigating his homicide. Not much information has come over the past decade and a half, but his autopsy was released. However, the family was not informed, so the LAPD made a public apology.
