The mood over at Savage Life is somber and hearts are heavy, as Webbie, the leader of the camp, is currently grieving over the loss of his brother, Lil’ Phat. For years, Lil’ Phat has appeared in music videos from the members of the Trill, Savage Life, and Bad Azz camp. Taking things back only 24 hours, all was well within the camp.
Last night, however, is when everything changed and the life of Lil’ Phat was taken. Lil’ Phat was shot at a hospital in Sandy Springs, Georgia. The shooting outside of the hospital, Northside Hospital, led to a lockdown. Outside of the women’s center of the hospital is where the shooting took place and the life of a young man was taken.
Lil’ Phat’s real name was Melvin Vernell III, who was only nineteen years of age. The young rapper was murdered, right as his time to shine was set to begin. Vernell was shot several times in his car on the second floor of the parking deck at the hospital. Law enforcement was notified about the shooting after 6:30 pm.
