Many remember actor Jessie Lawrence Ferguson from his dirty cop role in the legendary movie Boyz n the Hood. He was in the scene where he tried to interrogate Cuba Gooding Jr and his friends by profiling them as gang members. That role he played was an accurate representation of some members of law enforcement, particularly black cops, who show out in front of other white cops. (Word to Ice Cube.)
According to TMZ, Ferguson passed away last night at his home in Palmdale, California. His son Jace found him passed away next to his bed with the TV on. He had no known health issues and police say it was simply a natural death.
“He was a strong, beautiful intelligent black man and he wanted the best for his son and all people,” said Jace.
Ferguson also appeared in the movies “The Chosen One,” “The Presidio” and “Prince of Darkness.” His role in Boyz n the Hood role will without a doubt be remembered the most though. Prayers and condolences go out to his friends and family.
