Kanye West’s #JesusIsKing Album Expected To Debut at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart

Yesterday afternoon, Kanye West finally released his ninth studio album, “Jesus Is King.” This was after almost a month of delays. West also took a different approach on this project as it’s a gospel album. He recently said that he won’t make music that he put out in the past.

Kanye West’s controversial political views don’t appear to have any impact on his record sales. According to HipHop-n-More, Jesus Is King is expected to move 225-275k copies in its first week. This will be enough to debut on the top spot of the Billboard 200 chart next week.

60-85k of the copies accounted for are pure sales. West’s last album, “Ye” was released last June and moved 208,000 copies in its first week. What’s really standing out from the JIK album is the Chick-fil-a shoutout on the song “Closed on Sunday” with the lines “Closed on Sunday, you’re my Chick-fil-a. Number one, with a lemonade.” Despite many thinking it’s not West’s best work, it’s still enough to be the top album again.
