Lil Nas X has been the biggest breakout artist of 2019 as his mega hit single “Old Town Road” has dominated. Following its success, it earned a remix with country legend Billy Ray Cyrus and then it spent 19 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart which broke Mariah Carey’s record at 17. He soon followed the Old Town Road record up with his debut EP, “7.”
Nas X is building a lot of momentum but the streak was bound to be broken sooner or later. That’s the case now as pop superstar Billie Eilish has now taken over the Hot 100 chart with her “Bad Guy” hit single. The record appeared on her debut album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” which was released this past spring. It peaked at the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart along with a myriad of other countries as well.
The question now is if Eilish will break Nas X’s record. Her fan base has been extremely loyal and she’s selling out arenas, including overseas, so it would be no surprise to see another major accomplishment like this happen for her.
