A$AP Rocky’s trial for his assault case in Stockholm, Sweden officially started early this morning local time. He’s entering a not guilty plea as his lawyer, Slobodan Jovicic, said he acted in self-defense, according to TMZ. A$AP’s mother, Renee Black, also attended the trial. Four judges will hear this case. The prosecutor said he will not recommend the full 2 year sentence if A$AP is convicted of the crime. At least three of them must rule an assault was committed for a conviction to take place.

Jovicic said the man he attacked Mustafa Jafari because he felt that his security was in danger. Jafari had been following them for almost a mile and harassed women along the way as well. Jafari ended up throwing headphones at the security. Jafari wasn’t charged with anything as prosecutors thought he was acting in self-defense even though the video showed things differently. Jafari has a criminal history as three years ago, he was charged with criminal assault when he was 16-years-old.

Jovicic added that the rapper didn’t kick Jafari when he was on the ground. Jafari testified and said he thought A$AP and his crew were going to kill him. He says he suffered injuries to his hands and because of this, he can’t work. This has supposedly resulted in nightmares for him.

Two witnesses were called to the stand to testify which are A$AP’s bodyguard and a person who “saw something interesting.” Cross-examination will take place on Thursday. Check out video of the trial below, courtesy of TIME.
