Every Tuesday, BET is coming strong, as “Tales” is becoming must-see TV. Fans have really fallen for the anthology format, which is each episode being a standalone. Some have even compared each episode to a movie.
Definitely, “Tales” has a major star leading each episode. Tonight’s episode was “Deep Cover,” based on Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’s classic record. Starring in the episode is Mack Wilds and Hassan Johnson, of the famous GIF.
Kayron (Mack Wilds) is the boyfriend of Angelina (Walnette Marie) and the nephew of Dougie (Johnson). Given the premise is “Deep Cover,” Dougie is a crime lord and Kayron is the ambitious nephew. Finally turned 30, Kayron is ready for a bigger role and tries to take it, but suffers a huge misstep.
Once Dougie expresses his anger in Kayron’s move, Kayron tries to move without him (ala Scarface). Ultimately, this move gets Kayron picked up by the Feds, who want him to flip on his uncle. Left with no choice, Kayron goes about setting up Dougie, who seemed to be onto him from the jump, and eventually set him up to apparently kill him, before revealing he was the snitch, himself.
That plot twist, as Kayron seemingly died was shocking, within itself, but an alive Kayron saved Dougie’s life, before one of the mobsters shot both Dougie and Kayron (apparently) to death. But, a hidden gunman (Angelica) came to save the day, revealing Kayron had vests on, some the stab and the bullets didn’t impact him. In the end, they ride off into the sunset together, and fans thank BET and “Tales” for making it happen.
