Texas rapper Tay K has been locked up since shooting a man in a 2016 botched home invasion. An accomplice recently testified that he was trigger happy as well. His trial is this week for capital murder regarding the robbery. The man killed in the invasion was 21-year-old Ethan Walker.

The Texas rapper pleaded guilty on Monday to two counts of aggravated robbery by threats in the robbery, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Walker’s girlfriend and his roomate, Zachary Beloate were inside the home at the time of the shooting as well. He did plead not guilty to capital murder and to a separate count of aggravated robbery for the robbery and shooting of Beloate. He was shot in the shoulder but ended up surviving.

Jeff Kearney is one of Tay K’s lawyers and said flat out that he participated in a robbery. Jurors were told that he “accepted responsibility” in the plea deal. K also allegedly brought three friends to be involved in the robbery. They brought two guns and a brass knuckles. He was also 16 at the time of the shooting but is being tried as an adult. He’s now 19.

If convicted of capital murder, he’d be sentenced to life in prison. It’ll be interesting to see if Tay K is presumed as guilty as the shooter in this case. Fans of his have been waiting for him to return for a few years now. He blew up in 2016 with his hit single ‘The Race.’ Check out Twitter reactions to the trial and his guilty plea below.
