19-year-old Halle Bailey has been one of the most talented singers out with her sister Chloe as they go by the R&B group name “Chloe x Halle.’ They are signed to Beyonce’s Parkwood Entertainment label. The two stormed onto the scene in 2018 with their debut studio album “The Kids Are Alright.”

Halle continues to make 2019 a huge year for her as she will play the role of Ariel in the new ‘The Little Mermaid’ movie, per Variety. Bailey’s role as Ariel was made official today. Other voice actors/actresses include Melissa McCarthy, Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina. Rob Marshall is set to direct the film.

“After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role,” said Marshall in a statement regarding the announcement.

Production for the film is aiming for early 2020. This comes 30 years after The Little Mermaid’s original release in theaters.
