Rick Ross talks “Port of Miami 2,” staying neutral in Meek Mill and Wale beef, his boss moves, and more with “Drink Champs” [VIDEO]

In 2006, Rick Ross made his commercial debut, with “Hustlin,'” which dominated the summer. As Jay-Z was settling into his Def Jam CEO position, he was coming with a lot of talent. Ross was the fourth breakout artist, behind Young Jeezy, Rihanna, and Ne-Yo.

Before Rick Ross began to realize his potential, Jay-Z left Def Jam, to create Roc Nation. This same span of time saw Ross embrace MMG, his Maybach Music label. Most artists have a label, so few people took it seriously, when Ross said he may sign Wale.

Rick Ross not only signed Wale, he helped him become one of the biggest names in rap, after being an underutilized talent. He also signed Philly phenom, Meek Mill, helping him become a star. On “Drink Champs,” Ross met with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN, in Charlotte, where he spoke on the Meek Mill/Wale beef, his boss moves, and much more.
