Of all the 2019 breakout artists, Lil Nas X is the biggest one, and it’s not up for discussion. If he wasn’t, people wouldn’t be digging up old tweets, trying to tie him to @NasMaraj. The young rapper has overcome backlash for having Nas and DMX incorporated in his name.
Lil Nas X made “Old Town Road” and the song became a huge hit record for him. When they tried to discredit his country music credentials, Billy Ray Cyrus jumped on the record. This led to Billy Ray being invited to the BET Awards, along with Lil Nas X, both debuting.
Tonight, Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus did their thing, and had the people really into their performance. While the fans took that in, they took Regina Hall’s joke to heart. Early in the show, Regina Hall joked that Billy Ray went to Howard University, but it was just a joke, Twitter, yeesh!
