Tonight, NBA history was made, as the Toronto Raptors won their first ever NBA championship. They are the newest franchise to do it and the first from Canada to do it. But, making NBA history isn’t as rare as it used to be.
The Toronto Raptors, despite having Kawhi Leonard, were nobody’s favorites to win the title, due to past history. In their opening playoff game, against the Magic, they struggled. Kyle Lowry didn’t even score, but they won 4-1, before going seven with Philly, as Kawhi closed out.
After coming back from 0-2 to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks, who were also heavily favored, the Raptors faced the Golden State Warriors. A lot of people expected GSW to sweep, but Paul Pierce said Raptors in 6, which happened. During the title celebration, Doris Burke spoke, and Twitter is still roasting her voice.
