The marathon continues at the 2019 BET Awards as Nipsey Hussle will be honored, posthumously, with the humanitarian award. Nipsey Hussle will be celebrated for his humanitarian work. Also, he will be honored for the huge role he played in his community and in the culture.
Nipsey Hussle dedicated years giving back to his community in South Los Angeles. He worked as an activist, philanthropist, and businessman. Neighborhood Nip worked hard to advance his community. Nipsey helped people by finding employment for underprivileged groups through real estate investments, helping fund science and tech learning centers for teens, and violence prevention.
In addition, the 2019 BET Awards will also include tribute performances by YG, John Legend and DJ Khaled. In fact, Khaled enlisted Nipsey Hussle for his Father of Asahd track “Higher.” Additionally, the beloved MC, is nominated for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist at the awards.
Past Humanitarian Award recipients have included Chance the Rapper, Denzel Washington, Al Sharpton, Steve Harvey, and Dwyane Wade.
The 2019 BET Awards, hosted by Regina Hall, will air live from Los Angeles on Sunday, June 23, at 8 p.m. EST On Viacom Networks featuring star studded performances from Cardi B, Migos, H.E.R., Lil Nas X, Billy Ray Cyrus, Lizzo, Mustard, and more.
