In Columbus, Mississippi, there is a community in turmoil, as there was a man found dead, on May 6, near the Luxipilia Creek. The man wasn’t just found dead, he was found dead, hanging from a tree. Later that day, he was identified as Deondrey Hopkins.
Those in the Columbus area have seen the photo of Hopkins hanging from the tree reshared on their social media. But, there was more to the man than just that. Hopkins, back in 2015, purchased a 2014 Chrysler 300, which was shared on the dealership’s social media.
Because Hopkins did live a life of his own, the decision was made to remember him as he lived, not as he died. The Columbus community, however, is rightfully upset, demanding justice. On Twitter, they are calling on politicians, on the left and right, along with commentators, to bring light to this travesty of injustice.
