Connecticut teenager, Kaitlyn Renee defaced the late great Nipsey Hussle’s mural in Hartford, CT over the weekend as an act of bold disobedience and callous lack of empathy. After defacing Nipsey’s memorial mural for clout, the teenage girl decided to capture her new artwork by taking a self-satisfied selfie.

Referring to the selfish nature of her actions, she quickly received universal backlash for her rebellion & she promptly responded with:

“Y’all really mad,” she wrote. “I ain’t boutta argue with none of y’all over some PAINTING. you know how much dope shit in heaven park gets painted over? Oh alright then hop off. Yah Boutta “kill” me over a painting. That shit is hilarious.”

An rising rapper and dope artist by the name of Joey Batts came through to clean up the mess. After seeing the vandalism caused by Renee, Batts took the time to fix up the mural, earning himself some major love and respect in the process. He took to Instagram to show his efforts to fix up the mural, not for clout but for his community based off of his upbringing. He captioned a photo of him painting, “How was I raised? We don’t do things for clout. We fight for our community. Because that’s all we got.”

Respect to him for holding it down. Hopefully his resilience, optimism, and courage will prevent any further acts of disrespect as far as Nip’s mural is concerned.
