Nipsey Hussle’s hometown of Los Angeles has done an amazing job of paying homage to him since his murder two weeks ago. His funeral took place at STAPLES Center on Thursday and it was a beautiful celebration of his life. Yesterday, the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue was renamed Nipsey Hussle Square as well.

A basketball court in Nipsey’s Crenshaw neighborhood was announced to be opened today and as of 3PM in LA, it’s official. It’s outside of Crete Academy charter school and contains a blue mural on the court with Nipsey’s face on it. A ribbon cutting took place to celebrate the opening of the court.

The mural was done by artist Gustavo Zermeno. The plan to put the court together was handled by Venice Basketball League CEO Nick Ansom. Per TMZ, Amson said prior to the opening of the court that they wanted to honor Nipsey and his work within the community.

There will be a high school basketball showcase taking place at 4PM with an all-star game following at 5PM. Salute to Los Angeles for continuing to honor a legend in the city and in hip-hop. Check out photos of the court below, courtesy of TMZ.
