Gayle King Says R. Kelly Didn’t Allow Questions About Aaliyah To Be Asked In CBS Interview – “I Don’t Think He Helped Himself Because I Think 99.9% Of People Who Have Been Following The Story Believe That He Was Married And Had Sex With Aaliyah”

Earlier this week, R. Kelly was interviewed on CBS This Morning by CBS’ Gayle King about him turning himself in on 10 charges for aggravated sexual assault regarding sex with four underage girls. He was also just put back in jail on not paying child support before a set deadline. He had posted $100,000 bail to get out of jail on the sexual assault charges before that. He paid that bond with help from a local woman in Chicago.

Kelly had a complete meltdown during the CBS interview and denied any involvement in having sex with these girls or holding them against their will. Gayle King did an amazing job handling the situation with Kelly being extremely emotional. Now, she revealed that one topic wasn’t brought up due to the wishes of Kelly.

Kelly’s relationship with Aaliyah was documented in Lifetime’s new series ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ in January. It discussed how he was married to her when she was 15. Kelly’s backup singer Jovante Cunningham revealed how she saw him have sex with Aaliyah on a tour bus too. Kelly must’ve feared that this topic would be brought up because King said to The New York Times that he didn’t want any questions about her in the interview.

“They didn’t want any questions about Aaliyah, which I was fine with. I feel we have heard the Aaliyah story,” said King. “Really, this interview was about R. Kelly’s reaction to the “Surviving R. Kelly” documentary and the latest charges, and they said he cannot discuss the latest charges because those are still in court. “I don’t think he helped himself, because I think 99.9 percent of people who have been following this story believe that he was married and had sex with Aaliyah, she was certainly underage. That’s at least one that we do know about. Listen, I knew going into it he was going to deny. I expected that. I didn’t expect him to say that he had done nothing wrong. But there was no sign of acknowledgment or contrition about anything.”

Discussing his relationship with Aaliyah would’ve definitely put out more evidence that he’s been guilty of having sex with underage girls for over 25 years. Attorney Michael Avenatti has also come out saying he’s received sex tapes of Kelly having sex with underage girls. Hopefully when Kelly heads to trial again, the right decision will be made this time.
