R. Kelly Posts $100,000 Bond Out Of $1 Million Needed To Get Out Of Police Custody After Initially Not Being Able To Do So Due To Child Support And Late Studio Rent Payments; Pleads Not Guilty To 10 Counts Of Aggravated Sex Abuse Charges Involving Underage Girls

R. Kelly was held in a Chicago jail this weekend on $1 million bond but was able to leave custody if he paid $100,000, which is 10% of it. His attorney Steve Greenberg initially said that the $100k couldn’t be paid by Kelly due to child support issues and not paying for his Chicago studio.

The R&B star has now posted his $100k bail and entered a not guilty plea, per NBC. He was seen in court in an orange jumpsuit. It being reported that he was also being held in the hospital area of the jail. Attorney Michael Avenatti has been on a mission to make sure Kelly will be put away for his crimes and said that he turned in a sex tape from around 1999 or 2000 in which Kelly was having sex with an underage girl. The tape supposedly lasts to almost an hour.

“We’re getting our hands on these tapes through the 10-month investigation that we’ve undertaken on a pro-bono basis around the country,” said Avenatti. “This man deserves to be locked up for the rest of his life. This reign of abuse and assault by Mr. Kelly is about to come to an abrupt and permanent end.”

As far as the child support, Kelly owes $161,663. This did not play a role in him being denied bond. For the Chicago studio, he owes more than $166,000 in unpaid rent. He was served an eviction notice last month that he had to be out on or before January 21. He was supposedly there prior to turning himself into police last Friday.

R. Kelly shouldn’t have had bond to begin with. The pain that he’s put these girls through over the last three decades is inexcusable. The “Surviving R. Kelly” documentary on Lifetime in January did a great job in exposing his behavior and hopefully there will be justice in the end.
