Last year, Cardi B had the whole world on her side, as she was the ultimate comeup story. Behind “Bodak Yellow,” she took over the game, as many veteran rappers delivered career years. Delivering one hit record, she owned many vets, who came with several hits.
Cardi B continued her run, in 2018, with “Be Careful” becoming her biggest hit, until “I Like It” became her second her number one. All of this work made it impossible to keep her off the Grammy list. Last night, she made history, and won “Best Rap Album.”
After her big win, Cardi B responded to the backlash she has. Because she is a relative newcomer, winning before the likes of legends, including Lil’ Kim and Missy Elliott, people had a lot to say. Apparently, she caught that Twitter shade, as Cardi let it be known that she worked hard for her spot, too.
