BET Network is currently going through it on social media after receiving backlash for an offensive twitter post aimed at Nicki Minaj.
The chain of events all started last night. The 61st Grammy Awards aired and it was a night of historic firsts. One of the biggest moments was Cardi B winning the Grammy award for Best Rap Album, becoming the first female artist to win as a solo artist.
Among all of the praise and congratulations circulating on social media, BET was among those giving props to Cardi B, but at the expense of her arch nemesis, Nicki Minaj. The network threw some shade at Nicki Minaj with a tweet highlighting Cardi’s Grammy win. It was captioned, “Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj is being dragged by her lacefront.” The Barbz did not take too kindly to this, calling out BET for disrespecting Minaj and adding more fuel to fire on Nicki and Cardi’s ongoing beef. Many fans stated that it was a low-blow and hypocritical move given that Nicki Minaj was set to perform at the BET Experience this upcoming summer.
It didn’t take long for Nicki to respond and whip her fanbase into a dragging frenzy. On her Twitter, Minaj announced that the entire Young Money roster would be pulling out of the BET Experience gig.

The Barbz came to the defense of their Queen, making #BETISCANCELLED trend on Twitter. BET eventually issued an apology, stating that it was a mistake which they would seek to rectify.
