In August, it will have been eighteen years since Aaliyah died. But, today marks forty years since Aaliyah was BORN. Unfortunately, her name is being thrown around a lot, for reasons that won’t be mentioned in this story, as she is unable to defend herself.
Aaliyah, despite being such a young artist, had a long run. She was one of the biggest names in music for seven years. While she didn’t have a run on top, her influence over the entire culture has been evident in the time since she’s been gone, as many celebrities borrow from her style.
Because of her music, Aaliyah has had a fan base that has steadily grown, since her death. It’s really beautiful to see people who weren’t even born when Aaliyah was alive celebrating her art. Now, these people, along with the diehards, her friends, family, and other new fans are celebrating Aaliyah at 40.
