From the moment Jay-Z did the TIDAL press conference, the streaming service has had bad press. Through the whole year of 2015, there was speculation about the streaming service losing money. In 2016, there were rumors of TIDAL faking Kanye’s album streaming numbers.
Some people, namely Charlamagne Tha God have given their “real” reason for why TIDAL is so scrutinized. In the past, Jay-Z, himself, has spoken on TIDAL’s reported struggles. Recently, the company was under criminal investigation in Norway, according to reports.
TIDAL had a representative speak to Complex about the rumors surrounding the company. First, they denied any wrongdoing, making sure those rumors were cleared up. The rep also said TIDAL has nothing to do with the ongoing investigation.
