Some people were shocked to see Cardi B named Artist of the Year, last year, but she earned it. Despite blowing up towards the end of 2017, Cardi B ended up being the most-streamed and discussed rapper in the game. On top of that, she topped Billboard and held it.

Considered a phenomenon, Cardi B was written off, as critics said she could not have a bigger year in 2018. She did, easily said, as Cardi B is being named Artist of the Year for a second straight year. Now, Cardi B is focused on making 2019 an even bigger year.

Cardi B began 2018 with the “Finesse” remix, handing Bruno Mars another hit. When the spring came, Cardi B proved she could make another hit single, as a lead artist, with no feature. “Be Careful” dominated early summer radio, and Jennifer Lopez tapped her for “Dinero,” alongside DJ Khaled.

Before spring ended, Invasion of Privacy, Cardi B’s debut album, finally dropped. Following this, Cardi B did the impossible, twice, topping Billboard with “I Like It,” becoming the first female rapper to have two Hot 100 number one singles. Following this, her feature on Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You” also hit number one, as “Ring” became a radio hit for her, and now “Money” is setting her up for 2019.

In 2019, Cardi B promises a new album, where she intends to continue her dominance. But, in 2018, like 2017, she is the Artist of the Year.
