HHV Comeback of the Year: Tyga

Honestly, last year’s Comeback of the Year honors were more fitting for French Montana than Nicki Minaj. Both New York rappers had incredible bounce back years. Many would say Nicki Minaj is also eligible, this year, but her ex-label mate, Tyga, holds that title.

Yeah, even with Meek Mill, Drake, and Jay-Z back in the mix, none of them came as far as Tyga did. When it comes to music, Tyga was irrelevant for years. Even with the jokes, fans expected Meek Mill to drop a hit, Tyga was done for, according to most.

Exactly because nobody was expecting Tyga, he was able to sneak up on them and provide the anthem of the summer. This was something that Jay-Z and Beyonce, Kanye West, and DJ Khaled all failed to do. Not only was “Taste” Tyga’s comeback track, it became the biggest song of his career.

Following years of separation, Tyga and Nicki Minaj reunited for “Dip,” which has the potential to become another major hit for the LA rapper. But, “Taste,” featuring Offset, was enough to give Tyga the Comeback of the Year.
