Episode 175 of the #JoeBuddenPodcast starts up with Joe Budden, Rory and Mal throwing around some light jokes. The light-hearted ‘bro-jokes’ are not why this episode is wild or even why Joe Budden is angry, this week. “Somebody has to snuff Logic,” starts Budden. “Rory?” offers Mal.
Joe Budden explained the recent dismal history of the #VMAs; the social media inclusion put the awards in the toilet. Budden continues on about how this year’s award showing hyped up the opening using Cardi B’s name, as well as some other notable Black celebrities, ending with Nicki Minaj. “After that it was it for the Black people,” shared Joe Budden.
Budden mentions Rory needs to pop on Logic- “[The VMAs] pan the camera to some middle-aged white dude on the piano who starts playing. I’m a sucker for pianos, so now I’m glued… Then Logic comes strutting out! I thought, ‘oh no, Logic looked for the white guy with the fake soul.’ Then when I thought I couldn’t be anymore right, Logic struts out a choir. That ain’t even what took me back!” starts Budden. “There were no Black people in the choir, Logic you piece of f*cking sh*t! You strolled out the all-white choir…. they let Logic do that, man f*ck Logic.”
