It’s no secret Kanye West has caught some flack with his ongoing Donald Trump supporting shenanigans, including the highly offensive remark he made on TMZ not too long ago “slavery is a choice.”
His political views have stirred up social media frenzies for a while now as well as the exposure of his mental health issues. Issues that conveniently broke the internet right before his “I Hate Being Bipolar, It’s Awesome” album dropped.
Marketing at its finest, maybe? Either way, Yeezy has been called a musical genius by some, but the so-called genius turned a bit dumbfounded real quick when Kimmel hit him with some hard truths and questions. Kimmel wasted no time putting Kanye in the hot seat with the big facts on facts of politics and presidency matters. Kimmel kept it all the way real when he put it out on the table saying to Kanye,
” … In literal terms, there are families being torn apart at the border of this country,” Kimmel said. “There are literally families being torn apart as a result of what this president is doing, and I think that we cannot forget that whether we like his personality or not, his actions are really what matter.
“I mean, you’ve so famously and so powerfully said George [W.] Bush doesn’t care about black people. It makes me wonder what makes you think that Donald Trump does — or any people at all?”
Que awkward silence and blank stare with a lightweight Kanye shoulder shrug here.
It was clear, the cat totally caught Kanye’s tongue (for once). Now an uneasy looking and tight-lipped Ye was actually awkwardly silent. So much that the show went to commercial and Kanye ended up escaping answering any of Kimmel’s questioning and commentary entirely.
When the show returned from the break, Kanye was all smiles and seemed unbothered by the end of the interview, talking about more lighthearted subjects like his children’s fashion.
Okay, that’s cool and all but were betting the culture is still giving the side eye to that awkward silence moment.
Kanye was not pressed at all that perhaps he just made most of America roll their eyes at him… again.
Hey Mr. West, we’re going to let you finish but the old Kanye was the greatest of all time.
