Imagine being as great as LeBron James, going to the NBA Finals for the eighth straight time, and then finding out the commentator named you “Gladys.” All music fans know Gladys Knight is more than an icon, as she’s the template of all singers. So, with that, it’s a compliment.
But, sports fans are a different breed of immature, in a good way. It’s all fun and games, as it should be, because the work week, and real life, is hectic. That’s why Mark Jackson calling LeBron James “Gladys Knight” is the funniest thing ever.
After the play, pictured above, Mark Jackson called LeBron James “Gladys,” and said “the Pips” (Cavs) are saying “thank you, Gladys.” All of that was referring to LeBron putting the Celtics to sleep. The fans on Twitter now have Gladys trending.
