No, this isn’t Jay Rock’s debut album, but Redemption is being set up to be the biggest album of his career. Few people are aware of this, but originally Jay Rock was TDE’s flagship artist. Back in 2010, Jay Rock represented the “New West” and he took Ice Cube on.

During that span of time, TDE was partnered with Capitol Records. At the time, Mims was the man over there and Jay Rock and a young-pre Section.80 Kendrick Lamar did a cameo in his video. By 2011, the game belonged to Kendrick and Jay Rock took a back seat.

When 2018 rolled around, Kendrick Lamar was given the Black Panther soundtrack and he gave the lead single to Jay Rock. To kick off 2018, “King’s Dead” has been a huge record, Jay Rock and Kendrick, alongside Future and James Blake. Now, Twitter is highly anticipating Redemption, which drops on Juny 15.
