Roxanne Roxanne follows the story of Roxanne Shante, who is the original female emcee. Her impact directly inspired the immediate following femcees, MC Lyte and Queen Latifah. In turn, they inspired the Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown, Remy Ma, ladies.
Roxanne Shante stopped by Shade 45, talking to Sway, for his morning show. By her side was Chante Adams, who plays Roxanne Shante, in the movie. The ladies, primarily Roxanne Shante, herself, talked about Big Daddy Kane, Nas, and Nicki Minaj, among other things.
