All season long, the Toronto Raptors have been flying under the radar, but they managed to take the East’s number one spot. The main storyline of the season was the longtime Cavs/Celtics rivalry. With the whole Kyrie Irving trade, it was looking like Kyrie vs. LeBron.
In the middle of all of that, the Raptors made people respect them. As they managed to rack up wins, beating the Rockets, Cavs, and Celtics, among others, the pundits refused to give them props. This was all while DeMar DeRozan finally began playing like an MVP.
Tonight, the Raptors had to make their statement, in Cleveland. Due to him being the Raptors’ best player, DeRozan had to make it happen, and he didn’t. While this probably won’t mean much, come playoff time, it did nothing to boost faith in the Raptors, and they’re going in on DeMar DeRozan, saying he’s no Kobe.
