In music, a lot of things are coming full circle, and it looks like the record store will be making a comeback. During the early days of music, the record store was vital in distribution. Seizing this opportunity, Russ Solomon created Tower Records, and owned the market.
As artists are increasingly gaining control of their music, they are considering different options. In 2015, Jay-Z purchased TIDAL, for the purpose of artists owning their music retailers. Expanding on that idea, popular rapper, Nipsey Hussle, is opening his own stores.
Unfortunately, as these innovative ideas are pushing through, a music industry icon has died. Yesterday, Russ Solomon, the founder of the Tower Records franchise died. He passed away at 92 years old.
