While some have criticized “The Quad” for how it portrays the business side of HBCUs, the show is also tackling some real issues. The truth of the matter is that some HBCUs are in financial trouble. To keep the doors open, some have had to join forces with other schools.

This is the premise of “The Quad” season two, as Dr. Fletcher (Anika Noni Rose) is put in a bind, trying to save the school. After failing to get funding, in season one, the school is in trouble. It doesn’t help that she’s had a health scare, and an arrest, along the way.

Tonight’s episode had major hype, from the commercials BET was airing, in anticipation of the show. The theme of tonight’s episode is “Black Schools Matter.” Ced (Peyton Alex Smith) and the other students are screaming “BLACK SCHOOLS MATTER,” as are the fans on Twitter.
