Just seeing Cardi B nominated, at the Grammys, and performing, is a win within itself. This is no knock on the “Love & Hip Hop” artists, but this is what they dream of. Only two artists, Cardi B and K. Michelle, were able to translate their reality TV fame into a viable career.
It was only a year ago, when Cardi B was still on “Love & Hip Hop,” fighting how reality TV people do. But, Cardi B was putting out music that was gaining her real fans. As soon as Cardi B got that shot, she topped the Billboard charts.
Nobody was expecting Cardi B to get that far, at the time, but she managed to change all of that. Her momentum was so strong that people expected her to win Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance, but she lost those categories to Kendrick Lamar. Her fans are upset, venting on Twitter about it, but Cardi is winning!
