Ten years ago, Jay-Z dropped American Gangster, his tenth studio album. When the album came out, many were drawn to it, not just because of the movie. But, they loved the music, and the limited features.
Jay-Z included this one song, “Hello Brooklyn 2.0,” which is an ode to the town he’s from. The record featured Lil Wayne, months before his epic 2008 run. Here, Jay-Z rapped that if he ever had a daughter, he’d call her Brooklyn Carter.
So, nearly eleven years later, Kanye West has now welcomed his third child, a daughter. Her name is Chicago West, which has trended all day long. But, the fans have Brooklyn Carter trending on Twitter, because they’re waiting on Jay-Z to give us Brooklyn.
