HHV Actor of the Year: Bryshere “Yazz” Gray

While it’s sad to see 2017 end, it’s been amazing to see all of the people rise to power. Several notable programs dropped, this year, to massive successes. This year saw several actors bring their A game, including Lance Gross proving he could do serious, even violent, roles.

But, nobody had the year Bryshere “Yazz” Gray has had. Courtesy of him being on “Empire,” Yazz has been exposed to a massive audience, to start his career. The acting chops he showed, as Hakeem, led to him being cast as Michael Bivins, on “The New Edition Story.”

To think, Yazz’s goal was to become a rap star, but he has established himself as one of the top actors in the game. This year, Yazz put in some powerful performances as Hakeem and Michael Bivins. That, plus his scenes on “Empire,” where Hakeem lost Bella, Yazz held his own with Grace Gealey, Phylicia Rashad, Taye Diggs, and Taraji P. Henson, making him good enough for Actor of the Year.
