After Confessions, Usher went on a hiatus, returning at the end of 2007, with music as a lead artist. When he came back, Usher immediately delivered a number one record. Introducing Here I Stand, his fifth album, Usher delivered “Love In This Club,” with Young Jeezy.
Usher went all out for the music video, in the last leg of the era of classic music videos. With the “Love In This Club” visuals, Usher had an emerging Keri Hilson as his leading lady. He had a ton of cameos from Rick Ross, Robin Thicke, Kanye West, Nelly, and Diddy.
It’s been almost ten years since the “Love In This Club” music video premiered. Looking back on how things have changed for Usher, his last album was the lowest-selling of his career, it’s best to remember the good things. This week’s Wednesday Throwback takes it back to Usher’s Here I Stand era.
