Trina talks women in hip hop, Nicki Minaj’s new album, sexual harassment in music business, and #LHHMIA on Hot 97 [VIDEO]

Many people resent female rappers being put into a category of their own, and for good reason. However, because there were always so few female rappers, anytime one got shine, it was a big deal. Trina, not only was a big deal, there were times when she was the only femcee out.

Trina returned in 2008, with one of the first hits of the year. Since then, she has been silent, as Nicki Minaj took over the game. The current landscape is huge, with also Remy Ma, Lil’ Kim, Cardi B, and a host of other female rappers getting it.

Starting on January 1, Trina will have the same platform that Remy Ma has at her disposal. “Love & Hip Hop Miami” boasts Trina, among the legends of Miami hip hop, on their cast list. Ahead of this, Trina paid a visit to Hot 97, talking with Ebro and Laura Stylez about female rappers, Nicki Minaj’s new music, and sexual harassment in the music industry.
