Why does it seem like the worst tragedies happen during the holiday season? Nearly every year, there is a heart-breaking story, and it usually involves a young person. Here, in North Carolina, right near where HHV is based, came the latest tragedy.
Mariah Woods, a three-year-old little girl from Onslow County, the home of Jacksonville, NC, went missing. She should be warm and safe, on this cold and rainy day. Instead, she has been missing for days, and she was found today.
Sadly, Mariah Woods was found dead in the bordering Pender County, home to Topsail Beach. Mariah Woods was found dead in a creek and her mother’s boyfriend was charged in the death. Warrants say the boyfriend, Earl Kimrey concealed Woods’ death, which wasn’t natural, and moved her body.
