Because hip hop is so young, there is no way to handle rappers getting old. But, Jay-Z doing what he did with 4:44, he did that as a 47 year old man, a hip hop first. Guys like N.O.R.E. are showing what happens in hip hop isn’t much different than the sports world.
N.O.R.E. definitely had his moment, in the spotlight, and crafted some bangers in his prime. While he may not necessarily be that hot, as a rapper, N.O.R.E. created a new lane in “Drink Champs.” That’s actually no different than Charles Barkley and Shaq doing “Inside The NBA.”
This phenomenon that N.O.R.E. tapped into has placed him in a bigger spotlight than his rap career. Last week, N.O.R.E. was in LA and he visited Power 106, sitting down with J Cruz and “The Cruz Show.” He talked about the mumble rap era and chose Kendrick Lamar over J. Cole.
