It is hard to imagine New York radio without DJ Kay Slay. He, alongside the likes of Funkmaster Flex and Mister Cee helped Hot 97 become the iconic station that it is. There is a reason, after all these years, that people still speak of Hot 97 the way they do.

DJ Kay Slay, meanwhile, has become a very big presence in the game, as an artist, DJ, and media figure. This means DJ Kay Slay wears several different hats. Through the artist hat, DJ Kay Slay learned, firsthand, how the music industry worked.

When he stopped by “Sway In The Morning,” DJ Kay Slay spoke on his history in the game. The conversation centered around bad record deals and his hip hop journey. All of this came before he discussed his star-studded album, The Big Brother, boasting features from Kendrick Lamar, French Montana, and more.
