YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback (#RIPAaliyah Week Edition): Aaliyah – “One In A Million”

By YRS Jerzy

To quote Jadakiss, “why did Aaliyah have to take that flight?” The world will never know, but music lost a real one on August 25, 2001. This year will mark sixteen years since Aaliyah’s tragic flight and Hip-HopVibe.com is dedicating the remainder of this week to her.

Starting with this week’s Wednesday Throwback, select Aaliyah videos will be featured on the site up until Friday, the anniversary of the tragic day. Had Aaliyah lived, she would be 38, approaching her 39th birthday in January. Meanwhile, a world of music still mourns.

Despite it not being reflected on most music streaming services, Vevo, or any other official channels, Aaliyah’s music lives on. Also, artists across all genres have tapped into her sound. Reflecting on the amazing life lost, this week’s Wednesday Throwback is Aaliyah’s “One In A Million,” from 1996, taken from her album of the same name.
