A couple of weeks ago, TV One brought “Unsung” back with an episode on Wyclef Jean. That episode really served as a reminder as to how dope Wyclef was, and still is. Whether it is him being the maestro of his group, The Fugees, or being solo, Wyclef is the man.

When it comes to Wyclef, the solo artist, his landmark came when he did his “911” single. Released in the summer of 2000, “911,” which features Mary J. Blige, became a hit that fall. Taken from his second album, The Ecleftic: 2 Sides II a Book, it was his biggest single for years.

Peaking at number 6 and number 8 on the R&B and rap charts, respectively, Wyclef and Mary J. crafted a hood classic. In 2007, he would top this with his first-ever top twenty single, “Sweetest Girl.” But, this week’s focus is on “911” and it is the Wednesday Throwback for this week.
