Though the era of rappers having braids and dreads have passed, Wale represented a throwback to that time. The DC rapper emerged in 2009, signed with Interscope Records. But, the world came to know Wale in 2011 and his dreads were much longer.
While Wale only sparingly mentions his hair in his rhymes, it is something synonymous with his style. It is kind of hard to imagine him without his signature hair. At the time time, Wale is 33 years old and an eight-year rap veteran, so change could be good.
Suddenly, Wale has apparently made a big decision. On Instagram, he revealed he had a conversation with Issa Rae, the star of HBO’s “Insecure,” where they talked about healthy change. Now, he is hinting at cutting his dreads, with his barber cutting away.
