23 Notorious B.I.G. custom Air Jordan 13s to hit auction block
The Notorious B.I.G. is still regarded as one of the greatest artists of all-time, ever since his death back in 1997. Now, fans are able to own a pair of custom Air Jordan 13 sneakers, which pay homage to the late Brooklyn rapper.
According to TMZ, 23 pairs of black and red Jordan 13s were supposed to be released, in 2017. BIG’s “Juicy” lyrics are displayed in the back of the sneaker’s tongue, and a logo of his face is on the front. The 23 pairs also symbolize Michael Jordan’s jersey number.
These Jordans were supposed to be released back in 2017, but never did. They were initially made to celebrate B.I.G.’s 45th birthday. Now, they’re being auctioned off, on SoTheBys. The release is also to commemorate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop being created.
The sizes available in these Jordans range from 7-13. Each pair is also expected to be priced at between $2,300-$5,200. Bidding currently starts at $1. The auction will end on February 3, as proceeds will be donated to the Christopher Wallace Memorial Foundation. This organization helps inner-city students, as they’ receive scholarships and grants.
