Often the 1990s through mid-2000s era of Def Jam is discussed. When brought up, Jay-Z and Dame Dash, Irv Gotti and Ja Rule, Chaka Zulu and Ludacris, and DMX are often mentioned. But, there was one man behind the scenes of all of that, with Kevin Liles.
Working alongside Lyor Cohen, Kevin Liles rose to become one of the top executives in the industry. The two would join Atlantic Records in 2005, when T.I. would dominate the game, over there. Since 2012, the two have been doing 300 Entertainment, where Murder Inc. resides.
Kevin Liles stopped by “The Breakfast Club,” speaking with DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God. He discussed 300 signee, Tee Grizzley, and him having the featured song of this year’s Freestyle 50 Challenge. Liles would also speak on reuniting with Irv Gotti to do more business, and how “Tales” has become a hit series for BET.
