Ne-Yo talks family life, finally losing the hat, and new music on #EbroInTheMorning [VIDEO]

The year of 2006 doesn’t seem so long ago, especially when listening to music from Ne-Yo and Rihanna. But, then watching the videos, and those cell phones makes it obvious a decade has passed. With Ne-Yo, he’s made time fly while having fun.

Ne-Yo came up in the era of Jay-Z and L.A. Reid at Def Jam that saw him, Rihanna, Young Jeezy, and Rick Ross rise to fame. Now, the only artist left at Def Jam is Jeezy. In 2012, Ne-Yo left to take an executive role at Motown Records, where he abandoned his trademark hats.

Recently, Ne-Yo stopped by Hot 97, speaking with Ebro and Laura Stylez about his family life. Often, gossip blogs are speaking on his ex, Monyetta Shaw, and Crystal Renay, his wife, so Ne-Yo spoke on that. He discussed losing the hat, and his new music.
